Material, heat treatment, surface finish and tolerance selection

“Which steel and heat treatment for this shaft?”, “Which coating for this outdoor sheet part?” The designer picks the part's job; KILAVUZ brings a suggestion from your company's lists, with the reasoning, and writes it to the part in one click.

Material and heat treatment

  • Opened with the “KILAVUZ — Karar Destek” button when creating a new part in MEKANİKÇİ (and while numbering in YAVER).
  • Choose the material class: steel, aluminium, copper alloys, plastics, others (stainless, cast iron, rubber…). Then the load and duty: general machined part, welded frame, high load and fatigue…
  • It opens with the part's current values (the open part in YAVER) and points out contradictions: case hardening on structural steel, unreachable hardness, hardness without a heat treatment, galvanising on aluminium, electroplating on high-strength steel.
  • Suggestion: material, heat treatment type (quench and temper, case hardening, nitriding…) and hardness, with a short note on why.
  • A “suggestion and alternatives” table shows the other options for the same use and 2–3 alternative materials: density, weldability, machinability and corrosion, typical tensile strength and reachable hardness.
  • One click writes material, heat treatment and hardness to the part's properties; a short, dated reason for the choice goes to the “KILAVUZ Gerekçesi” property.

Surface finish and coating

  • Questions: material (steel, stainless, aluminium, copper alloys), environment, precision, special requirements (food contact, electrical conductivity, continuous high temperature) and heat treatment state; the material tab's result fills them in.
  • Suggestion: coating or paint type and thickness, with pre-treatment and dimensional growth (twice the thickness on a diameter for electroplating; half in, half out for anodising).
  • Compatibility warnings: hydrogen embrittlement and baking, hot-dip galvanising softening a hardened part, process order (heat treatment and grinding before coating), hard chrome lowering fatigue strength, galvanic couples in wet conditions.
  • The suggestion is assigned to the part's properties in one click.

Tolerances and GD&T

  • Fits: choose how the two parts work together and how hard; an ISO fit (hole / shaft) and a suggested manufacturing method follow.
  • Geometric tolerances: the GD&T symbol and datum suggestion by feature type and duty.

Your company's lists and rules

  • The suggestion is written with its equivalent in your company's list: the equivalent material name (W.Nr / EN / DIN / AISI; e.g. “C45 (1045)” → “1.0503 (C45)”) and your company's name for the same coating, paint or heat treatment. If there is no equivalent, the window says so.
  • The material rules are yours: “Kuralları düzenle (Excel)…” opens the KILAVUZ material rules file in the shared Tables folder; saved rows are used.
  • While choosing a material, an info panel explains the delivery-condition suffixes (+A, +N, +QT, +C…).

KILAVUZ's suggestions are based on general engineering rules; the final decision rests with the designer and your company's standard.
